Itchenor, Itchenor, Chichester PO20 7AA, UK

About the Event

Dr Ruth Barnich will talk about the importance of taxonomy to inform ecological assessments and will give an overview of what you could expect to find beneath the water of Chichester Harbour and what this says about the quality of this habitat.

Ruth is a renowned benthic taxonomist and principal scientist with an ecological consultancy. She is also a seasoned science communicator who has worked in outreach in one of Germany's leading natural history museums. In her presentation, titled "Why we need to know who they are", she will talk about what lives beneath the surface in Chichester Harbour, why it is important to know about it and what it tells us about the ecology and ecosystem health of the area.

The event is suitable for all ages and no prior knowledge is required.

We'll meet at 2pm in front of the Chichester Harbour Conservancy in Itchenor and then walk along the coast. The length of the walk can be tailored to the needs of the participants.
